Events & free time

As a student council, we want to support students not only in terms of learning, but also to promote social interaction. This makes it easier to meet new people and simply spend time together. For this purpose, we have been organizing various activities for many years now, which we will explain in more detail below. We announce information about current events on the homepage or via our social media channels. In addition, there are also other offers at the TU such as the Unisport.

St Nicholas party

In December, the student council organizes the St. Nicholas party. There will be e.g. speculaas and fresh waffles (fore free!). Warm drinks, too, of course. Apart from that you can meet new people and have a nice evening with board games. You can easily get information about this via our mailing list. If you want to help or have any questions, just contact us via

Summer festival

The summer party always takes place in the summer semester, usually in July. There are cold drinks, grilled food or hot dogs and nice entertainment. If you want to help out, you can simply contact us via Tasks include set up and take down, serving drinks and the like. For your work as a helper you get free drinks and food!

GnoM (Games no Machines) is the open board game evening of the student council since 1996. The games are played with anything that does not require electricity, usually board and card games. Non-informaticians are also welcome to come along.

In addition to the usual channels, we also announce new dates via our GnoM mailing list. If you have any questions, you can always contact the people in charge via Often, food is ordered during the evening, but sweets and snacks brought along are also welcome. New players are always welcome.

RPGnoM is a spin-off of GnoM and focuses on role-playing games. The same information applies as for the normal GnoM but it has a separate mailing list and its own organisation team (

Events of other departments

As we are not the only ones to offer parties and similar events and we want to encourage everyone to look beyond their own horizons, we also advertise the offers of other departments here. You can also attend these as an "outsider", and in some cases we also help to organize them. For example, there is the "Ball der Mathematik", a ball evening with a live band, organized by the mathematics student council. In addition to this, there is also the math music evening. Here you can look forward to live music of various kinds and also participate as a musician/group yourself. The physics student council also offers the physics music evening, where there is also a variety of different genres and you can also contribute yourself.

If you don't want to just sit in front of your computer, the university sports center offers many options. For example, there are many different courses you can take, but you can also just go to the university stadium and use the outdoor pool or the volleyball courts there. Students can enter free of charge if they bring their Athena Card. You can find a complete overview of the variety of offers and the terms of use of the sports facilities on the page of the Unisport-Zentrum.

If you want to watch current films for little money and with other fellow students, the Filmkreis offers a larger selection every semester, which can sometimes be a little more unusual. The movies are shown either in the Audimax at the Campus Stadtmitte or in the program cinema Rex. For more detailed information about the current program, the conditions and other information, you can visit the Filmkreis website.
