Assignments: Own Tests?

Beitrag von daehn »

Hello,
for the assignments, there always is a tab "Tests". Are we expected (that is, is it necessary to get full points) to implement additional tests, even though test cases are already given (e.g. for the Fibonacci subtask in Assignment 02)? If yes, how would 2-3 testcases each suffice? Or are these tests simply for our consideration on how the implementation should behave?
Thanks in advance

Hello,

The tests are there to show you how the programs are expected to work and also to catch some errors that you might make in the implementation. You are more than welcome to add new test cases to verify the correctness of your solution. Writing additional tests, however, is not mandatory and does not give you any points, unless specifically mentioned in the description of the task. You can see the distribution of points for each requirement when you open a task.

That said, there may be future tasks that will include writing tests for points. Then, the number and the nature of the expected test cases will be explicitly specified.

Kind regards,
Iva
