Lecture notes / literature

Beitrag von Patr0rc » 20. Nov 2008 23:00

Hey guys,
I just wanted to ask if there's going to be some literature or kind of lecture notes available or being handed out about the lattice things (like it was with the Merkle signature scheme)? Sometimes Mr. Buchmann's notes on the blackboard are a little bit confusing while he jumps from one topic to another and back and forth in just a minute. So written notes would be great pleasure (if available)...
Thanks a lot.

We have put up two sets of lecture notes on the web page for the lattice part of the course. One is in German by Prof. Schnorr (Wolfgang Goethe-University, Frankfurt am Main) and another in English by Prof. Micciancio (University of California, San Diego).

Just get to http://www.springerlink.de and search for "Buchmann Ding Post-Quantum Cryptography" and you'll have it. From within the university network you can access it. Have fun.

How can you access to this book ? You are "Angemeldet als Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Darmstadt...." ?
The matters are the only chapter which I can read. The other chapters are not allowed.

Yes, there is: " Angemeldet als: Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Darmstadt (120-90-604), GER Hessen KAP 645826 - inactive (349-50-671), GER Hessen 1011 (118-96-828), GER Nationallizenz OJA (479-50-028)". Taking the "2." entry will get you the book in readable format (the box in front of "2." should be green). Hope you'll get it. I tried my own explanation just as described above and found what you were looking for in readable format.

Ah...you don't talk about the yellow book. You mean the book with the capital letters "LNCS" ?

Ok, sorry guys, I see your problem. Using the VPN-client having a remote tunnel to the university network does NOT help you get it as I just found out myself from home. Really "being" at TUD and connecting to the network just from "inside" solves the problem (via notebook or just in the pool and then mailing will help you, I guess). Hopefully this will be the solution to your problem with the yellow "Post-Quantum Cryptography" book. The other book ("Grid and Cooperative Computing" - the one with "LNCS" on front) is neither accessible from the outside world nor within university network. I tried myself to get some copy of it but it just didn't work. If you can find a solution, I would be interested in it ;-) Have a nice day, folks.

Dear students,

I'm not sure, and at the moment I have no access to the TU network (so I can't check it), but I think the book "Post Quantum Cryptography" is not yet available at the Springerlink website. The one with "LNCS" is the proceedings of a conference held in Cincinnatti 2008. It is a collection of papers published at this conference (so the most actual work in the area).

If you are interested in the real (yellow!) book by Prof. Buchmann and Erik Dahmen please come to our office in our consulting hours, next wednesday, or ask us after the last lecture next week. We can print out the chapter about multivariate crpto...

Nice day,

Michael

Hi again.
I just got a little confused myself by re-searching for the book. The yellow one is not yet available on Springerlink but LNCS is the one I figured and downloaded (but it confusingly is titled as "Post-Quantum Cryptography" published by Buchmann and Ding). So, what I actually downloaded was this book. I'm sorry for the trouble I created. If you want to have "LNCS" because it can't be downloaded write a PM with your e-mail and I send it to you (PDF, 3.7MB).
Bye.

The other chapters also seem matching to lecture's content.
Do we only need the chapter on Multivariate Cryptography? (And the prints on Merkle)

This was meant as "supporting" additional literature. I suppose using the TeXed script for learning for the exam would be better (the handwritten notes are the "best" though confusing sometimes, I guess).
