CMS / High performance - Scalability - Peak Throughput

Beitrag von eintopf » 11. Mär 2015 12:21

Hi,

there is a description for "Vertical" and "Horizontal" scalability on slide 34. I'm struggling a bit with the "throughput < peak throughput" formulation.

Shouldn't it be "throughput < peak load" or something like that? Unfortunately with this formulation the sentence in Horizontal Scalability wouldn't make sense, because we should also archieve an improvement when peak load is splittet on several machines? If it is not "peak load" and the slide is correct can someone explain what the difference between "throughput" and "peak throughput" is supposed to be in this case?

Regards,

For Vertical throughput < peak throughput means , since you are increasing the processing and n/w speed even if the peak is not reached requests will be responded faster. For Horizontal throughput < peak throughput means, the processing and n/w speed is same but it can handle more load because of same low speed more number of resource,
so the response will not b faster if < peak but if peak is reached it can handle bottleneck and serve more requests.
