Hi,

i have problem with renaming exercise in the svn :(
In "Exercise Organization.pdf" on slide 10 it say´s

Code: Alles auswählen

team/<group-id>/
   contact.txt
   ex<two-digit>/
solution.pdf # file containing your answers
    code-ex<two-digit>-<group-id>/
      ...
but the template of the exercises is

Code: Alles auswählen

team/<group-id>/
   contact.txt
   ex02/
    docs
    src
      ex02
     solution.pdf
    code-ex<two-digit>-<group-id>/
      ...
So to help the tutors with the correction and makes them happy and don´t mess up everything, should i create a new folder ex02-16 in ex02 and put src in?

thx for helping :)
greets Udo

Hi everyone,

it gets even more confusing when reading the corretion of the last exercise, where ist says :
"Please take note that the offical naming convention for eclipse projects is <EXNUMBER>-<TEAMNUMBER>. The tutors were instructed to deduct up to 2 points for future violations."
So to be right the next time. Just to check if I understood what the naming conventions want.

1. we copy the template to our repository
2. rename the directory structure to convey:
team/<group-id>/
contact.txt
ex<two-digit>/
code-ex<two-ddigit>-<group-id>/
solution.pdf
src/
docs/
....
3. rename eclipse project to ex<two-digit>-<group-id> (and not as I thought code-ex<two-ddigit>-<group-id>)

Is that right ?

Hello, everyone,

it should suffice to rename the eclipse project. code-ex<DIGITS>-<TEAMNUMBER> is fine, too, as long as we can relate the project to your team without double-checking the file hierarchy.

Best regards

rename the eclipse project
what does it mean? The name of my project does matter to the svn? So when i checked out the ex02 folder for example, i got to the top root of project an do refactor->rename? It is the same name he asked me for when i checked out the exercise for first time. So rename the second ex02 folder in my template above has same effect?
(The easiest way for me would be to copy the template to our repository via "team->copy to" then "specify new name" and rename to "ex02-16")
I need some clarification, maybe for dummies, sorry :(

If you copy the template to your team folder, the top-level-element you are copying is the project-folder. This project-folder has some (arbitrary) name, but if you import some project into eclipse, the "real" project name isn't the name of the project-folder but the name specified in the ".project"-file located in the project-folder.

If every team is just copying the folder (and might rename the folder name) then the project's name stays unchanged (and hence, we (the tutors) get into problems if we try to import multiple project at a time and we cannot relate one project to the corresponding team). Therefore, please rename the project (either using Eclipse's renaming (Refactor->Rename on the project) or by editing the ".project"-file manually). As you now might see, the project-folder's name is only important for the SVN and the project's name only for the tutors :)

Code: Alles auswählen

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<projectDescription>
	<name>code-ex02-16</name>
Thx for clarification, changed the project name via Eclipse and ".project" file changed, hope it´s done, we will see after correction of exercise ;)

Exactly. Change <name>ex02</name> in .project into something representing your team, like in your example, and leave everything else as it is.
