Ex 3.2 A - Boundary

Beitrag von hymGo » 25. Jun 2013 17:53

Hi,
bullet point two says: "...ignore the feature points within a 10-pixel wide boundary.".Does it address the image boundary? I just don't get what is meant.
Can someone give me a hint :)

Hi, you detect interest points by thresholding the Harris function values right? So this statement implies that you ignore such interest points that are too close to the image boundary. Why is that? If you take a look at the given sift implementation you will notice that it does not work when its input points are too close to the boundary. So that is why we should discard points within a certain distance from the image borders.

Cheers
